B.O.B.

BIOCHEMICAL OBSERVATION BUOY

PROBLEM

Dead Zones are oxygen depleted bodies of water created by the negligent dumping of waste. Only by identifying and monitoring at-risk bodies of water, can we prevent and reverse dead zones--- saving ecosystems and economies alike.

However, there aren’t enough scientists to monitor ALL the water in the United States. Luckily, there are over 48 million licensed fishermen in the US.

B.O.B.

Or Biochemical Observation Buoy, the world’s first fishing bobber that turns millions of licensed fishermen into dead zone hunters.

HOW IT WORKS

B.O.B. is a bluetooth enabled fishing bobber which houses a data sensor that records oxygen levels in water. B.O.B then logs the geo-targeted oxygen data to a living map online, by sourcing the fishermen’s cellular wifi hotspot, creating a resource scientists will use to identify vulnerable water zones and enact corrective and preventive actions.
